Ok, be prepared coz I’m gonna go on and on babbling about Lily Allen and her songs.

I have just found a new love – Lily Allen or full name, Lily Rose Beatrice Allen.
I’ve always liked her hits which I always hear on the radio but I’ve never considered truly loving her music.
That was until I stumbled across someone’s tumblr which featured a non-radio-hit song, Who’d Have Known, by Lily Allen and I instantly liked it. Therefore, I figured it wouldn’t hurt if I downloaded her albums.
Before I begin babbling about her songs, did you know she has a THIRD NIPPLE? Haha!
Alright, Still
Anyway, Lily Allen’s Alright, Still was her first studio-recorded album which featured hits such as Smile and LDN. And I honestly gotta say that I love every single one of her songs! I think I’ve finally found the one type of music that I truly like. Lily Allen and Lenka are what I mean.
Anyway, some of Lily’s songs in Alright, Still are really interesting. For example, Knock Em Out is about what girls experience when they enter bars and men are all over them trying to get their numbers. And hence, the song’s about trying to Knock Em Out. It’s a rather humourous song.
Friday Night is a really cool song whereby she talks about how you better not mess with her. She says, “Don’t try and test me coz you’ll get a reaction”, and “There’s a lesson that I want you to learn, if you’re gonna play with fire, you’re gonna get burnt.”
I think Littlest Things is a really sweet song. It could be dedicated to anyone you love. In fact, Lily Allen dedicated this song to her grandmother who passed away a day before one of her performances.
Oh, I really like Friend of Mine because it’s telling someone that he/she’s a waste of time and that he/she’s got no self-respect.
Another one I really love is Alfie! I love the melody of the song and her voice in the song. In the song, she’s talking about her pathetic and hopeless little brother who is taking drugs. And apparently, Alfie is really her little brother’s name! But I’m not sure if her little brother’s really smoking weed. Hmmm… And the interesting thing is that Alfie has that nursery rhyme sorta sound to it which fits because she’s talking about her little brother.
I think Nan You’re A Window Shopper is talking about her grandmother. Really. Coz she says, “You’re covered in cat hair and you’re smelling like Strepsils.” It has a really nice ska feel to the song though.
It’s Not Me, It’s You
I really love this album! Apparently, this one has a more “electropop” feel to it as compared to Alright, Still which was more ska and reggae. Well, I think this album’s awesomer than the first one!
Everyone’s At It definitely has that modern pop sound which, I guess, caters to the public and I do like it a lot. Anyway, the song talks about how everyone is taking drugs nowadays and it’s never gonna stop and the kids are in danger.
The Fear is one of my favourites! I don’t know why but I’m just addicted to the sound and I think I memorised the lyrics. Haha! The song is actually based on the fact that music can be easily downloaded and artists can’t earn much if they produce albums only to have them downloaded for free online.
Not Fair is apparently about a lover who doesn’t satisfy her enough in bed. Yep, I’m serious. It’s a really funny song. She says that the guy’s personality is awesome but when it comes to making love, she’s the only one who’s satisfying him. Uhuh. Interesting eh?
22’s a pretty cool song which is about women who didn’t realise that they haven’t been doing anything about their lives until they reach 30. I Could Say talks about how the leaving of a particular person actually benefitted her. Back To The Start has a sound similar to The Fear and it’s about her realising her mistakes and her begging her lover to start over their relationship. Never Gonna Happen is about a girl trying to emphasise to her lover that the relationship’s over and that it’ll never work.
Fuck You was first introduced to me by Shazana and I really like the song. And I was even more shocked to discover (after doing research on her, hehe) that the song was actually about George W.Bush! It was originally aptly called Guess Who Batman. After listening to the song again, I realise sialah, it’s really about GWB. Haha! Go take a listen!
I really like Lily’s voice in Who’d Have Known and I think it’s a really sweet song. Apparently, it’s a pastiche of Take That’s Shine. Regardless, I think it sounds wonderful.
Chinese is one of my favourites too! I thought it was about a guy but it’s actually written about the time spent with her mother. Really really nice song which can actually apply to lovers too.
Him is an interesting song about God. I initially thought it was about a leader of a nation because it talks about a lot of people dying in his good name long before 9/11 and hijacking planes.
He Wasn’t There was about her dad and how she’s glad that she gave him time and it worked out in the end. It’s a really good song because it can be applied to all fathers out there. It reminds me of my own dad…
I also received 2 bonus songs, Kabul Shit and Fag Hag, which I’m addicted to! I love the sound! The beginning of Fag Hag sounded quite scary the first time I heard it.
You know, if I were a singer, these would be the kind of songs I’d write and sing.
Yes, I know I’ve been babbling about almost every Lily Allen song but I can’t help it. I think her songs are simply awesome! I can’t even decide what my favourite song from her is!
Bon Jovi and Michael Buble come second to Lily Allen and Lenka! Hehe!
Ok2, shall quit babbling about her. :)
